Tyrannosaurus Rex - Great Horse
Tyrannosaurus Rex - Great Horse.
I love this song from Tyrannosaurus Rex's "Beard of Stars" album (1970). There would be one more transitional album from Marc Bolan & co. (1970's T.Rex) before they would fully realize their electric, glam-rock approach and score a breakout success with 1971's Electric Warrior.
Here's an excerpt from Richie Unterberger's review at AllMusic.com:
"There was a big and obvious change to Tyrannosaurus Rex on their fourth album, A Beard of Stars, as Steve Took was replaced by Mickey Finn, with Marc Bolan remaining the true captain of the duo act as singer and songwriter.
Of more significance was the change in the band's sound, moving into far more electric rock territory with much greater use of electric guitar, though Bolan's songs were still often grounded in the fairytale-like musings of his earlier work. It was still a ways off from his glam rock approach, but it was definitely more accessible than the relatively homespun elflike folk-rock of the earliest Tyrannosaurus Rex albums..."
Enjoy the song & check out the post labels for more Bolan and T.Rex.

Beach House - Norway
Beach House - Norway.
Beach House's new record is coming out (on Sub Pop records) next week; YouTube informs me that "Norway" is to be the lead single.
I heard the new album yesterday on NPR, where they are previewing a first listen of "Teen Dream" until the January 26th release. Go check it out and hear for yourself.

Goo Goo Dolls - There You Are
Goo Goo Dolls - There You Are.
Early days for the Dolls here, hamming it up in this fun hometown video. Great tune as well.
Warner Bros. (like most major labels) are douchebags and have disabled embedding, so please click the text link or double click the video to open in a new window. Rock!
